দ্বিতীয় ফরাসি বিপ্লব

The Second French Revolution refers to the events that took place in 1791-1792 following the initial French Revolution of 1789. In this period, the situation in France escalated, leading to the fall of the monarchy and the establishment of the First French Republic.

After the first revolution, King Louis XVI and his family attempted to escape from Paris but were captured and brought back to the city. This act sparked major political tensions, with the National Assembly and various political groups differing on what should be done with the king. In the meantime, Prussia and Austria opposed the revolution and began supporting the monarchy, prompting France to declare war against Austria.

As the Austrian forces advanced towards Paris, the situation became more intense, leading to the declaration of “Patrie en Danger” (Fatherland in Danger). Under the leadership of Danton, the National Convention took control of Paris, leading to the storming of the Tuileries Palace on August 10, 1792. This resulted in the abolition of the monarchy and the formation of a new constitution. Universal male suffrage was granted, and a new government was established, marking the beginning of the First French Republic on September 22, 1792.

The Second French Revolution marked a turning point in French history as it not only abolished the monarchy but also laid the foundation for a new democratic system, though under tumultuous and often violent circumstances. This event was pivotal in moving France away from a monarchical system toward a republican government, marking a significant chapter in the broader French Revolution.
