THE RUSSIAN REVOLUTION
The October Revolution of 1917 resulted in the socialists seizing control of the Russian government.
The Russian Revolution refers to the events that occurred between the fall of the monarchy in February 1917 and the events of the October Revolution.
The Russian Empire In 1914 Tsar Nicholas II was the ruler of Russia and its empire in 1914.
The Russian empire, in addition to the territory around Moscow, included present-day Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, as well as portions of Poland, Ukraine, and Belarus. The empire stretched from the Caspian Sea to the Pacific Ocean, comprising the Central Asian states as well as modern-day Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan. Russian Orthodox Christianity, which evolved from the Greek Orthodox Church, was the dominant religion in the country.
Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, and Buddhists were all represented in the empire.
